Awesome trip to Slovenia for a week of white water paddling!
Early on Thursday morning a group of cars fully filled with enthusiastic (old) members of Euros and Levitas left the Netherlands. After a long day on the highway listening to an eclectic list of music preselected by everyone, the tents could be set up in the middle of the night at the campsite, while others enjoy arriving in a warm apartment. The next morning we woke up between the mountains in the beautiful Bovec area of Slovenia.
What follows is 8 days full of paddling, hiking, sightseeing and relaxing. Every day a group of paddlers leaves to enjoy the clear blue waters of the Soca and Koritnica rivers by kayak or raft. While beginners overcome their first fears and learn how to read the water, more advanced people play in the waves and every now and then fish someone out. The paddling day is finished off by enjoying some ice cream in the city. Back at the campsite the other part of the group also returns from a nice hike, wine tasting or city visit. Then it is time to cook a lot of nice food and to sit at the campfire to hear the stories from everyone’s day!
The last day in Slovenia we do the so-called Himalaya start and paddle down the Soca river from the campsite. Then it is sadly time to pack again and load the kayaks back on the trailer to return to our daily lifes, where we already start dreaming of the trip next year.
